98 SR5 alarm system ?

ok, I know this has been talked about numerous times. However, I went thrgouh about 7 pages of search results and didn't find anything that applied to my system. (maybe I missed it?)

Anyway, attached is a picture of the style remote for my 98 4runner SR5. When I lock and unlock the doors there is a loud annoying beep or two. My first question is, how can I shut that most annoying noise off?

My second question is: What is the bottom button (closest to the key in the picture) for?

rs3000

You may have read it by now but the rs3000 factory alarm remote can be programed for more than one vehicle. The second vehicle must also have the rs3000 and not the more recent rs3200. My wife has a 01' corolla (+ my runner) and its a beautiful thing not to have to have a giant key chain with multiple remotes. The piezo chirper sreams to anybody who will listen within a 100 yard range " I have a alarm so there may be somthing of great value in my car". I put a piece of electical tape over the chirper hole so that it may only be heard sofly within 10 feet. I like some audible response so I know I hit the button and dont have to rely on the visual of the lights flashing if I'm walking away or standing at the door in daylight when you cant see the lights. There is always the passive arming option but the tape works well to calm that pitch. Good luck

I also noted that when I did the search there was one person who put their alarm on a piece of plywood so it wouldn't be on the floor in the event that it got wet. I just looked at mine and it is mounted a good 2" off the ground on a little metal bracket. Just thought that was interesting.
