Mechanic Recommendation - Irvine, CA

I need to replace the timing belt on my '02 Runner, and would like a recommendation for a trusted mechanic in the area. I'd like to avoid the dealer.

Thanks,

Tagging for future reference... I do my own stuff, but you never know when you're gonna end up lazy/busy.

Go to the SD Truck Shop . It is located in Miramar in just north of San Diego. It is worth the drive trust me.

Here is why:

1. Pricing. They have *very* good prices. Orange County has TERRIBLE TERRIBLE prices. Sure you have to drive an hour but it is worth it if you are doing anything significant.

2. Customer Service. The owner is James you can talk to him directly, much better than talking to some corporate manager.

3. Knowledge Base. I used to go to the dealer until the dealer screwed up fixing my rear diff seals and cost me $1000. This shop is well known in San Diego and they specialize on Toyota Trucks.

If have gone there over the years for a number of things including: timing belt + water pump, diff seal replacement, lift install, trans pan gasket, front brakes, stering rack, front cv boots + other stuff over last 4 years.

I can also recommend a good mechanic in Santa Cruz CA for anyone living in NorCal.

I bought a 1984 Sr5 4x4 a year ago. Brought it to Cal Mini in pomona. THey gave it a once over and installed front and rear bumpers, and rock slider. Truck runs great and prices were fair.
