i have a 95 4runner and the tail gate window will not roll up and down with the switch and key. i havent looked at it yet. where would the relay and fuse be? thanks

 

If you're standing behind the truck facing the tailgate, the relay for controlling that window is between the rear quarter panel (driver's side) and the interior trim.

 

We need to know symptoms first...

1st - Does your relay click from either source? ( when you're sitting in your truck and you push the switch do you hear a clicking coming from the cargo area? ) or ( when you're standing outside does it click on the inside? ) This would mean that your relay is working and trying to function.

2nd - You need to identify where you have power. if you can take the tailgate apart, check the connections with a meter. if you have power there when someone pushes the switch, and your relay works. then its something before the relay not working correctly.

3rd - pull the switch out and clean it then try the switch again once its cleaned

 

i have issues with mine from time to time too. it tends to not roll up after ive rolled it down to access cargo in freezing ass temperatures. WTF Murphey. it will click all the time when the button is pressed in either direction. and its only when i need to roll the window up , it always rolls down.
