How many miles is too many?

I have never owned a Toyota Land Cruiser and know very little about them. I am looking at a 1984 fj60 to purchase. Vehicle looks clean and well maintained under hood and body. It has 260,000 miles. This much mileage is my concern. I have never owned a vehicle with this many miles. What is the life expectancy of the 4.2 liter straight 6?

If compression, power and oil consumption are all good then it should be ok. Its more how well its been treated in the past. I wouldn't too worried about the mileage. Is it going to ba a DD?

THE ONE RIGHT AFTER THE ROD COMES THROUGH THE BLOCK , OTHER THEN THAT YEA MILEAGE IS NOT ANY THING TO WORRY ABOUT IF ALL SIGNS POINT TO BEING WITHIN STOCK SPEC.

I'D DRIVE IT AROUND CLOSE TO HOME FOR A COUPLE DAYS AND SEE WHAT IT DOES THAT WAY IF YOU BREAK DOWN ITS EASY TO GET IT BACK HOME AND IF THERE ARE ANY ODD SOUNDS FEELING ECT. YOU CAN SEE IF YOU CAN CHASE THEM DOWN FOR FIXING AND AGAIN IF YOU HAVE REAL ISSUES YOUR CLOSE TO HOME AND EASY TO GET IT BACK

Like FlyingLow said, if the compression, and power are fine, and it doesn't leak oil it will be good to go. There are plenty of members on here who have 300K+ without any problems. I have 255K on mine for what its worth.

Leaks are easy to fix, other than the rear main... Burning oil is different subject but usually valve seals. They can be changed with the head on though by a good mechanic.
