chicago area (150 miles) help

I know its a long shot, but if there are any yotatechers out in the chicago area want to help, with some cash paid (couple hundred bucks) to help me put in a new CV joint on a 1st gen 4runner let me know. I am pretty mechanical, but first time doing this, I want to learn, and I am a long way from home (doing temp work up here)

thanks guys!

If I cant find any help, pepboys wants 500 bucks to replace just one side!

Hey! I really wish I could help if you were in near-by. Hoping someone on yotatech gives you a hand before you shell out 500 bucks to Pep-boys ... which I think is WAYY WAYY too much for just one side. Shop around!! Based on my experience, Its should be around $200-$230 incl parts & labour for one side (1.5 hour job for the shop).

Its pretty easy job and all you need is basic wrenches / sockets except maybe the 54mm socket.

If no one responds, I would start working on it myself by following the FSM, Other threads on this and if you get stuck, post a question on yotatech. If all fails, AAA the truck to the mechanic :-) All the best.

Another thing I was going to say is that try the local / regional forums but there is definitely less visibility there compared to the main forum : https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f192/
