Question Am I Crazy

I posted I would like to trade my FJ60 for a 4runner on a few boards.

Here is the specs:

I have an 86 FJ60 I'd like to trade for a 4runner.

Would prefer a built pre-1995, but will consider others.

1996 FJ60, ARB front bumper with a Warn 8274 winch, IPOR rear bumper with spare tire swing out and Hi-Lift mount, 5speed (h55), OME lift, shocks, greasable shackles, FJ62 axles (4.10's), Like new 33x12.50 BFG MT's, Tuffy center console W/Kenwood CD, WagonGear tailgate lid, CB, Inclinometer in dash under factory radio. Some other misc stuff, FJ62 steering wheel and grab bars, etc.

Have a folder with papers, invoices, pictures and receipts. From paperwork that came with it:
Around 151k (1997) it had a new water pump and fan clutch, windshield, Clutch, Tuneup, New Battery.

April of 2008 it got a full tune-up and all belts and hoses were replaced with all OEM toyota parts and a new radiator.

Right now it has 162,xxx miles.
Also Has new cat back exhaust put on this past fall.
New PA inspection good untill 3/12.

I have this posted on a few different boards so best way to reach me is by email. spraar@aol.com

Here are some pic's and a Video.
*Roof Top Tent and Hi-Lift not included.

I already have quite a few offers but only 2 that I'm really interested in right now.
One is a 1990 4runner 180k with a new rough country 3 or 4" lift, new 35's and an aussie locker in the rear.
The other is a 94 4runner 160k pretty much the same lift on 33'sbut it just blew a head gasket last week. The guy bought everything to fix it if I'm willing to wait a couple weeks. This one has a nicer body but no locker.

The problem is I have a voice in the back of my head saying that my Land Cruiser is worth pretty much more than either 4runner.

In your opinion am I crazy for trading my pretty well built FJ60 for a lifted 4runner??????????

Thanks for any opinions.

I think you are crazy, yes.
That 60 is a classic and it looks pretty clean. You'll kick yourself when you realize you want another 60 and can't find another one that clean..

Just my 2cents.

I vote keep it too.

In our area, if I had the money someone was selling/parting one of these with a blown motor. Doesn't say how much he wants for it though.

Thanks for the replies.

Someone on another board asked me why a 4runner and this was my response....

"Just because, out of all the Toyota's (1st & 2nd gen mini's, 1st & 2nd gen 4runner's, FJ80's and FJ60's) I've ever owned I like 4runners the best. I really like 1st gen 4runners and always wanted one that is superclean (no rust and looks mostly like new) on 35's. Being my wife and I have 4 kids plus our niece lives with us (plus 2 german shepherds) I'm leaning toward a 2nd gen for the 4-door. Even though it won't hold us all at once its just easier having 4 doors. The 3rd gens look cool lifted too, Also like the newer 4-door Tacoma's too.
Here in PA there are not many places to go offroad so I don't NEED something that can but I WANT something that looks like it can.
Over the past 4 or 5 years I've owned 7 different Toyota's, An 87 pick up on 35's, an 87 4runner on 31's, a stock 91 FJ80, stock 83 FJ60, a built 96 locked FJ80 that was wrecked, and I currently have a 94 locked FJ80 and my 86 FJ60. Keeping the 80 for now because of the 3rd row seating but have an itch for something different so that is why I'm putting up the 60. The 80 will be for sale soon too, need a sequoia to hold us all and pull our camper.
Also, these vehicles are just my "toys", we have a van for running the family around in and my wife has a Scion Tc she uses during the week for work."

I would love to put the 60 in the garage and just buy a 4runner but my wife and I just built a new house and its not really an option right now. Plus I'm too cheap to buy a 4runner and pay someone to put a lift on and I really don't feel like wrenching anymore (getting old I guess). Yeah I could try to sell it, buy a clean 4runner and put a lift and tires, etc and probably still have a little cash left over but I would need to find the right buyer (it seems like there are a lot of Cruiser fans out there but finding one that has the cash is a different story) and Its not really a good time to sell anything right now. So "taking a hit" and trading seems(ed) like a good idea.

Guess I need to think some more........

I would still save it.

But if you have to sell it. I hear there are alot of cruiser lovers on the IH8MUD forum. At least it can go to good hands if you get rid of it.

If I were you then, I'd get rid of the 80 before getting rid of the 60.

Again, just my 2cents.

2DoorRunner,
It is on Mud. I met the guy I bought it from on Mud a few years ago when buying other toyota parts.
I found out later that it was owned by 4 other Mud members, me being the 5th. That's why it has all the PM stuff done.

Scuba,
I hear ya and thought about that but I need something 4x4 that will hold the wife, I and our kids. We have a cabin that is hard to get to with the van in summer and impossible during the winter, Plus hold us all and pull the camper. So I got to hang onto the 80 untill we are ready to buy a Sequioa.

Blake,
Yeah that's kinda was I was thinking but with the very limited places to go wheeling around here I'm not into rock crawlin so I don't mind IFS. I would still consider a nicely done SAS'd 4runner though...
