1988 4runner intake tube?

I've been working on this 4runner for a while and have never had to ask! Have always just used the search to find all the info i ever needed. But im stuck on this one.

I'm working on a 1988 4runner 3.0 for a friend the intake tube from the throttle body to the rest of the air box cracked from being brittle/old. He just wants the stock parts replaced.

My question I look for one for a 88 3.0 and all i can find online is 89-95 3.0 is it the same for a 88?

http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/...ek+Google+Base

dealer item only?

It looks about the same from the pictures.

thanks for the help

No, that part isn't exactly the same for an 88 as the ones for later years. There's actually a total of 3 different part #s for that hose. What the exact differences between all of them are, I haven't a clue. Would the one you found for an 89-95 work on an 88? Maybe so, I don't know.

There's 2 part #s for the 88. This one for the 88s that have the elbow shaped connector.
17881 HOSE, AIR CLEANER, NO.1
17881-65010 1987.11-1989.03 3VZE.. VZN6#

Or this one for the 88s that have the box shaped connector.
17881 HOSE, AIR CLEANER, NO.1
17881-65011 1988.08-1991.08 3VZE.. VZN10#, 110, 13#

And from 91-95 it's this one, also with the box shaped connector.
17881 HOSE, AIR CLEANER, NO.1
17881-65020 1991.08-1995.11 3VZE.. VZN10#, 110, 13#

The difference is the clock position location of the vacuum line on the intake tube (the flexible rubber tube directly off the throttle body). On '88 and '89 it is at 9 O'clock when the intake is viewed from the driver side fender. The 90 and up one has it at the 12 O'Clock position when viewed from same location. In other words the port is on the side on the older and off the top on later models. Why this is I have no idea.

I wound up ordering 3 or 4 of these until I just settled on the one that comes off the top (12 O'clock). It did used to hit the hood a little, but it just wears a little paint off. The 90-up has more hood clearance so this was not an issue.
