All New to me!!!! Trying to get all the help I can get! Thanks

:wabbit2:I have had my 89 4runner for about 2 years. I finally saved up enough money to start my project. I have a SR5 22re motor, and manual transmission 1st gen. I have started purchasing parts for the project, 63" chevy leaf springs, straight axle from an 85 runner with 4.88 gears, and a Detroit locker for the rear. I need to know... what size springs i'll need for the front, what i'll need for high steer, dual transfer cases, the best size tires for 4.88 gears, what engine and tranny work should be done, (has 245,000 miles on it) disk in the rear, or leave the drums. I Want to build a bulitproof rig, that will do well, and would like to do it right the first time. Like I said, this is all new to me, and I really want to get into this hobby. If you have any more suggestions that I did not touch base on, please let me know. Thanks again!

sounds like a great start...

4.88's are usually go with 33's from what I have seen..

Interested to see what everyone else thinks..

I need to put in some new gears for 31's that might someday grow to 33's

If you put disks in the rear, you can swap the front brakes to the rear and get V6 brakes for the fronts. Then you have the issue of a parking brake, you can use a trans brake or just route the brake cable to pull on the brake pedal or an electronic lock but that will drain the battery
