Unhappy 2nd gen center console lid??

Does anybody have any thoughts on how to replace the hinge for the center console lid? The dealer wants $85 for a new lid, kinda steep, just looking for suggestions/ideas?

You can probably use a small piano hinge bolted or riveted to the existing plastic lid and the console. (?) I'm on my second one. Maybe TOR can help you with a better price??

Initially I thoguht ebay too, but I never ran across one that was the right color unless they were selling the whole center console.

I was pulling my briefcase out of the passenger seat, while I was exiting the driver side, and ripped the top off of my console in my 1995 4runner.

I bought a small hinge set at Wal-Mart. I think it is for cabinets or something similar. It worked perfectly and was stronger than the factory hinge. I just screwed it into the lid and the flat plastic area on the console.

It cost a whole $1.62. Good luck

How about $20 + shipping (cost only)for this one... Gray vinyl, off a 92. I bought the leather one to match my seats (much more $$) It is perfect top and bottom. I did have a push in lamp installed in the lid (see hole) The lamp was from radio shack and was set up with a mercury switch..
