22RE horrible nocking noise truck died no power

Sounds like you had a rod knock and developed into a rebuild/rebuilt motor.

Welcome to YT.

If you plan to keep the truck look at a rebuild from a reputable builder. Cheap route and you will be replacing it again in a few years.

You might want to look for a used running engine. Not too hard to find, well at least here if you just want to get by and save cash.

Sounds alot like mine sounded before I lost the headgasket, cracked the head, cracked the block, and finally the timing chain before the engine lost all power and the truck needed towing.

I pulled my engine and had a local machine shop rebuild the bottom end and assemble a new head for me for around $1400 using all Rock parts with a Fellpro headgasket. I pry have about 40 hrs of ladbor into the job and when i can get it to run it purs. I just have a few cooalnt leaks to track down and timing/idle issues I have to fix.

Just and idea how detailed the repair process is without pulling the block. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...cement-212688/

Buy a used motor. A good used motor should last just as long as a decent rebuilt motor. The factory motors were WELL built with high quality gaskets, seals, bearing etc the quality of which won't be matched by the large majority of rebuilders IMO.

You're gonna pretty much have to pay someone to take that lol. A buddy of mine couldn't sell his healthy 3vze and ended up giving it away.

Call around the local salvage / junkyards. All the 22RE engines from '85 up are more or less the same. Might also want to see if there are any "U-Pull-It" style junkyards near you - I've seen engines for as low as $150 when you unbolt and pull it out yourself

Start calling the local wrecking yards around you and see what you can find.
