2nd gen 4Runner/SURF front Diff Swap Questions?
Hi all, I will cut to the chase. I have a Hi Lux Surf 2.4 SSRG Manuel 5 speed/stick shift, with a knacked front diff. Can I replace this with a front axel from a 2.4 auto transmission surf/4runner. My axel code is G145 and refers to a limited slip diff. I can sorce a replacement front axel from a surf with an auto transmittion, and has an axle code of G144 which refers to open diff. Would this be a compatable swap? As my surf has auto disconnecting front hubs would I have to change the front drive shafts too? I have been informed by a member of the www.hiluxsurf.co.uk site, that I should not have a problem. Has anyone on your side of the pond ever done this front axle swap, and are there any pit falls????
