When should I replace my fuel pump? I have 124K miles.

Autohausaz.com sells

Denso with filter $179

Kyosan with filter $193

Unless you're having engine stumbling/dying issues or if the fuel pump is whining, there's no reason to replace it. They're pretty solid on the 4Runners.

You could always hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see how well it's performing just to the sure though.

 

Fuel filter is a maintenance item, not the fuel pump. No need to replace it unless there is a problem or a need for more fuel due to performance.

 

I have over 456 000 kms (~285,000 miles) on mine with no issues.

 

thing that kills fuel pumps fast is running it low on gas alot

I also heard that if you dont replace the fuel filter often enough it will kill your fuel pump. Due to the fuel pump has to work harder to compensate for the low flowing filter

 

^ yes it does, I just replaced a fuel pump on a Silverado and when I dumped the old fuel out of the fuel filter, it came out brown.
