No power between 2k-3k. 22re Help?

Recently my truck has been acting very strange. Its like it has no power between 2000-3500 Rpms although once it gets past 3500 it starts pulling again.
Its a 85 4runner, 22re. Im not getting any codes either. Any ideas on what to check first?
Thanks, scott

timing and vacuum leaks is the first place I would try.

might be a good idea to do a tune up (fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor). But yeah, checking the timing and for a vaccum leak is a very good place to start.

did you go back in a check up / re adjust your valve lash?

Might wanna do a compression check even though you just rebuilt the motor not that long ago.

sorry didn't know it was a recent rebuild.
