g54 power capacity

Ok, im new to this forum, but not so much toyota trucks of the 80's. im needing a bit of advice. ive got an 87 truck. its a 22r/5speed. the trans and motor are gonna need a rebuild soon. doing the work isnt a big deal. what im wanting to know is how much hp/tq the g54 can handle. now im not gonna put a 500hp v8 infront of it. my plan is to just rebuild the 22r with a few mods. right now im thinking mild porting of the head, cam, header and an offy 4bbl manifold with a 470cfm holly truck avenger. if the g54 will do fine with this then ill just rebuild it. dont wanna spend the money on a w56 if i dont have too. i do occasional offroading and am only running 31" tires. im not needing a hot rod, just more than 96hp. thanks for any help.

It should be able to handle a mild built 22r. Get a W56 if you're worried about it, they are a little stronger. If you're really worried and want to spend some money find an R151
