If you had a 1000 dollars to spend...

If you had a mechanically sound good running 4x4 where does your first 1000 dollars of mods go on your truck? These would be for a dd/weekend warrior

Gears and tires and lift?

Engine parts?

Offroad armor?

winch and offroad gear?

Just wondered what everyone thinks.

well hard to do this without some shipping info but here is what I would do.

$279 Bud Built IFS skid plate
$199 Bud Built single case cross member
$244 Rear Spartan
$281 Front Spartan

$1003 total plus shipping on the bud built stuff.

the very first thing i would get is a set of nice rock sliders. im not out trying to destroy my vintage trucks body parts for sure.

then maybe a nice skid or bumper.

i would do the protection first. here is why. with the gears and locker you are going to be able to tackle some obstacles that your otherwise stock truck would not, obviously. bigger obstacles comes with bigger drops. bigger slams. bigger dents.

so protect then upgrade capabilities in my opinion.

So my mind did not automatically go to Rock Crawlin.
But like i said...Depends on what exactly your looking for.

If it was pretty good and capable offroad already as a dd/weekend warrior, I think I would fix anything busted on my rig. Maybe fix little annoyances or preventative maintenance with the motor. After all, a locker, lift, and armor is worthless if the damn thing won't start.

I would use the $1000.00 to pay most of Novembers Toyota parts bill.

An EFI swap to my 22R.

I can do all the work, but I would upgrade parts as I went. Such as:

- Big bore throttle body
- matched injectors
- Ported lower runners
- Ported manifold
- Supra AFM swap
- Move the airfilter to the battery side
- EngBldr 268 cam
- EngBldr HO head with O/S valves and porting/polishing
- Heated 02 sensor
- New fuel lines
- Replace fuel pump

Along with various other small improvements to fasteners and such.

I hope thats less than a thousand
