new alt still not charging

Hey I am new here and new to this vehicle 89 4x4, runs great but suddenly stopped charging, alt was tested and put out 10 or 11, bought a new one put it in and still the same issue. Any idea where to start? Thanks

take it back and get another one. it's not uncommon to get a bad rebuilt unit.

like xxx said, especially on the remanned ones they can read good at the store. As soon as you install it and check it with your volt meter, not putting out but 10 volts. Take it back and try again.

I had a problem with alt not charging/dead batteries, but mine was actually a bad power wire to the alt (according to the mechanic). A new battery and remanned alt were destroyed before discovering the real problem. Check the power wire for corrosion.
