When I turn on my high beams both headlights cut out. However, when I pull the handle back the high beams will come on. I checked power to the lights and when I do turn the high beams on, all prongs on the three prong plug have power to them, but the light doen not come on.

Please help. I'm stumped.

 

you should have a ground to each light. both filaments share a ground connection but have 2 power circuits. check your grounds, then check out your headlight switch

 

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out this morning. I tore down the steering column all the way to the guts of the light switch. I took a thin sheet of sand paper and cleaned each connection of the brass/copper mechanism. After that the lights worked just fine. I was also able to straighten my steering wheel at the same time.
