will not idle just dies

Was on the trail and then when i let off gas it died and would not idle had to max throttle cable out to get home. Replaced tps sensor now truck idles up and down cant do a vacuum leak check, because i cant bring up idle even by giving it some throttle. Only did this after tps was replaced so I am gonna change it back. Any ideas am new to the toyotas

kind of but it will die even when first started and it is cold the weird idle started after i change the tps its like a vacuum leak cause even the brake has no assist pedal is real stiff like a large vacuum leak. could it be that out of adjustment or maybe the tps i put in is no good.

Didn't you check the resistance when you put in the TPS? You should know exactly what its reading...the surging idle means you have a TPS issue

I would reset the TPS, just to eliminate that, and then check all your vacuum lines by spraying brake cleaner around where you think a leak is. If the engine dies, you found the leak.

Brake cleaner is a poor choice as it WILL eat the paint off anything it touches.

I'm betting you cracked your intake hose when you were installing the TPS. Check it in the 12 inches just before the throttle body for cracks, especially underneath.

Although it sounds like you might have an induction problem, I will tell you about an issue I had that sounds very much like what you are dealing with.
I just recently put a brake booster in my 95 4runner. I had the doors open for quite a while and by the time I was done the battery had run down.
I put it on the charger overnight -- Next day tried to start and it would fire up but never would idle correctly. I would have to pump the gas and get it up to 4000 rpm to keep it running.
I checked the battery and it read 12.95 volts not running!
I ran the battery down again but couldn't get it to restart. When I jumped it off with my wifes car it started rigt up and ran fine. -- Took jumpers off and it acted up again.
Short story is don't discount a bad battery, even if it shows to be good. --- fooled me
