Confused about what 02 sensor to buy for my 1998 4runner sr5 2wd

Someone cut and stole my o2 and cat right in front of my house!!! i cant believe this...so i've been looking for a o2 and i dont know which one to buy. i have a 1998 4runner sr5 2wd 3.4 v6. They cut and took the o2+cat thats right under the driver seat. Is they 2 cats on my car? is it the front or the rear o2? and aftermarket cats that will work just as well as the oem cat cause i dont have $1300 for a oem cat!!! Thanks ahead of time!!!

I can't be 100% sure on your 98 2wd, but my 99 4wd has one cat and two sensors. There's a A/F o2 sensor before the cat, and an o2 sensor after the cat.

I would do some more research on yours because my cat is on the passenger side of the vehicle and I don't know if exaust on 2wd differs from 4wd.

I think you don't have any replies yet because people need to know if you have 2 cats and what o2 sensor (or both) was taken to help you. It should be easy just by looking under the vehicle to tell how many cats you should have or had. If you're really unsure, call a toyota dealer and give them your vin. They'll be more than happy to tell you what kind of exaust you have.

1998 2WD ALL Front = 234-4162; Rear 234-4154. This is from http://www.urdusa.com/index.php?cPath=9_13These are the Denso part numbers for the V6. There were NO 2-cat systems or A/F sensors in 1998. Google the part number and get the best price--usually Amazon---but get Denso.

Start at your engine exhaust manifold and trace back along the exhaust looking for a sensor. If you don't find one before the cut, you need a front one. Then start at the muffler and go forward. If you don't find one there, you need the rear one.

Sorry, I can't help you with the cat--still have my original.
