popping out of first gear

My manual transmission 96 4runner has been popping out of first gear when i am starting up from a complete stop. This only happens with first gear, and only on occasion. I have tried holding it in gear, but when it pops out, it pops out hard. It is very loud and scares passengers. I have done a little research and found that it may be the shifter bushing or shift fork, but i havent gotten a chance to check it out yet. I was wondering if anyone had any input on what the problem may be.

I'm pretty sure if you pull your shifter your shifter seat will be toast (busted into pieces) ask me how I know

This happened to me to in te original tranny in my 91 pickup, but my solution was i just got a whole new tranny from a guy who was parting out his 91. The originial was going rough anyways.

I have the same problem, i have replaced the shifter seat and the white cap on the ball on the end of the shifter stick but still have the very occasional problem.

this problem you guys are talking about is a common problem of the R150 transmission. my brother said it's because of extra "slop' in the 1st-2nd shift forks, but i could be mistaken
