22r Oil light problems and knocking sounds
My oil light recently came on, just flickering and then steady on. I had plenty of oil on my dipstick so I guessed that it was a failing oil pump since my truck has over 219,000 miles. I just had the oil pump changed and the light still comes on and also there is a very noticeable knocking sound from the engine. The knocking and the oil light only start after I drive for about 5 minutes. When I stop and let it idle then the light will flicker on and off but mainly it stays on once the truck is fully warmed up. I have not checked the oil pressure. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? It has never been rebuilt and I'm not well versed on the inner workings of engines. I've just always kept the oil changed on time and haven't had any problems. It doesn't even burn much oil. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm emotionally attached to this vehicle like I'm sure everyone else is around these parts.

sounds like a toasted rod bearing to me, but without a video and a confirmation of what oil pressure really is then it's just as guess and it sounds like it's rebuild time. What would make you drive your vehicle with the oil light on and assume you still have oil pressure.
P.S. the oil light comes on at about 1.5psi of oil pressure which is not enough to drive around on and will certainly destroy bearings, wrist pins, camshafts etc etc. It's just as bad as driving around with no oil in the motor.
