I have a 1988 toyota pick up with a 22 re efi in it, i just put a new motor in it. Ive been driving it for about a week now and i like it. But I have a problem when I started to brake, the pedal felt spongy, so I figure it had to be the master cylinder, I change that and bleed the breaks all the way around, I didint know if you had to have the motor running or not, I was told you didnt have to so I didnt bleed them with motor not running. Ive bleed my brakes for the last few days and when I get a solid squirt out of them i do it about 3 times with a solid squirt, i figured it would be fine then i started the motor and went to drive off it was spongy again. the next day i bleed them again and got one solid suirt out of it and then nothing for a long time. then ill get a solid suirt and i think its fine when really its not. I dont know what is wrong and cant figure it out. so any advice would help me out alot

 

If your pushing the brake peddle and nothing is coming out of the bleeder screw, then you either have air in the lines or you have a bad master cylinder. Also, when your bleading the brakes are you bleeding the load sensing proportioning valve ?.

 

I changed the master cylinder with a rebuilt one for fedurated. I didnt know they had a load sensing proportioning valve. Are they located in the front or in the rear of the pickup?

Did you bench bleed the MC before installing?
