DeathSycthe02's 1987 22ret build up thread

I recently bought a 1987 single cab toyota pickup, factory 22ret 5speed. The truck needs motor work, it has low compression in cylinders 3&4. The yota already has straight axle swap, and is lifted on 35inch tires. My orignal plans where to make this into my wheeler. After researching the 22ret factory opinion, i learned of how rare these trucks are. I then decided that i cant wheel the shtt out of it and decided that i would fix it up, and buy a wheeler later on. So as of now i want to rebuild the motor, i wanna do some body work and paint it some shade of blue, theirs way to many white yotas out their. I also wanna get baja front fenders for it, the fenders on it now are rusted and beat up.

Heres a picture of the truck getting trailered home, really dirty.

TURBO!!!

Took off Grill, Bumper and Corner Lights.

Re-Did Grill

Blacked out Corner lights and Turn Signals!!

The seats and the center consel are out of a 92 4runner got a smoking deal on them, finally got rid of the bench seat!!!!.

Im pretty sure the steering wheel is a grant wheel they have ones like it simular to it at baxters but i found mine in my dads shed and was able to just go buy the grant steering wheel installation kit to make it fit.

I got the hood scoup off of summit racing's website then i just installed it onto the hood i had. i riveted it on, used 2 part epoxy and then spot puddy any defects, then primered it for paint.

Stick with your plan... OEM on the Gasket... I guess it's kind of an "Up to you" thing on the head bolts... But my last set of head bolts stayed on for 175K miles...... not worried about having studs in there for easy off, etc. Guess studs would line things up pretty PERFECT though, eh? lol. Best wishes on the repairs man!
