255/85/16 will it fit with ARB 880/906 combo

Well the 91 is for sale. Taking the wifes 97 runner. Im in love with the idea of 255/85s. I know there are other lifts out there but ihave been very satisified with the ARB on the 91. Will the 255s fit under there with that combo?

I have 3" OME suspension (883/891) w/ 10mm trim packers, a 1" BL, and I've trimmed/hammered a lot and I can still make 'em rub just a little off road when I'm stuffed. Fitting stock with a just a little hammering?? For on road only maybe on a '96-99, but off road there's no way you can run 255s on no lift without rubbing on every little bump (or tubbing your fenders).

You'll be happier with 881s/890s if you're going to run 255s. Or the 880/906s with a lot of trimming/pounding.

what bs wheel you running? I was running 1.5" of lift (go sagging) and only rubbed on the frame at full turn with stock bs wheels. I let a friend borrow my rims and tires and we flexed it out and they actually tucked better in the rear than mine did......

Wow, it must depend a lot on the bs'ing then. I have 4" bs on my wheels and 1" spacers in the front (just to widen my stance and make it a little more stable), so effectively 3" bs front and 4" rear. Maybe I'll try taking the spacers out and see if it doesn't rub as much.

ding ding ding ding, there you go.

if your not going to rub up front with a tire, it doesn't matter how much lift you have. with lift your not changing the suspension geometry, your just changing at what point you are in the X amount of travel you have on these trucks. So if you want to stuff a tire and not rub you have to be able to run it stock height

I've never thought of it like that but it definitely makes sense...

What you say is true and I've said the same thing myself several times that lift doesn't make bigger tires work. But you have to take into consideration that going over a 1 or 2' boulder with a lift is equivalent to about a speed bump without a lift (with the same tires) as far as rubbing goes and that's what makes the lift necessary.

I rub a little bit with a lift but not near enough to want tub my fenders yet. If I was stock it would basically be rubbing 99% of the time off road even with the cutting I've done and that would drive anyone insane. As it is I can get away with rubbing only once or twice in a full day.

sounds like your suspension doesnt flex well.....

just think of that extra travel you'd get if you didn't rub. are you just rubbing on the the fender? because thats cheap sheet metal thats easy to cut away

I actually flex really good for IFS, especially without swaybars. I just hear a corner of a knobby clip once in a while, but I can rest on my bump stops at full stuff/full lock. With the little that the tires brush up against the firewall, the weight of the truck overpowers it. It's just not enough to break out the hammer and saw because it's very minor.
