Timing and tsp ?

Got a deal on a 86 Toyota pickup with a 22re it was runnin a little rough so I had a shop do an alignment and they set the timing on it. Now it runs worse. Man said the tsp was unplugged and he set the timing to 5 degree btdc. Wasn't sure what the problem was and wants me to pay 88$ an hour to find out. Can someone please help?

Did he reconnect the TPS? Silly question I suppose, but doesn't hurt to ask you.

Did he also know to jump the diagnostic terminals on the test plug when setting the timing?

Going out on a limb here, but possibly someone unplugged the TPS because it was/is bad and runs better without it. You can easliy test the sensor yourself with a multimeter.

4Crawler has a good write up about it. As thook said, if your multimeter can measure resistance/ohms, you should be good to go.

Read the link posted above. There's no "easy way", as it were. Just the only way........which is all described in the link. If you need help understanding it all, you'll get it. It's not difficult. You just gotta use yer noggin a bit.
