Check engine light threw a 5 code, oxygen sensor. Replaced it today and now it idles like ass. Do i just need to have my ECU reset? How do i go about fixing this? thanks

You need to get a Denso 02 sensor, Denso is an OEM part. I don`t know what the deal is with Bosch 02 sensors, but most of the time they make our toyota`s run like crap. Just for the heck of it disconnect the battery for a few minutes and see if that helps.

unfortinatly it won`t, you can try driving it the way it is for a while, but im guessing that your mileage is going to suffer. The computer uses the 02 sensor to set the air fuel ratio, and if its not working properly your mileage and power will drop.

But that's weird, because power was fine. Even better! i dont get it... I guess ill throw the stock one back in, just to do some wheeling i planned on before and figure the rest out tomorrow.

Im just going by what ive read here and what ive personally seen. When an 02 sensor goes bad the signal it puts out gets weak causing it to throw a code, thats probably why it ran better with the new Bosch 02 sensor. I wish i had more info on why the Bosch 02 sensors don`t work well in toyota`s, but i don`t.

Stupid bosch, well the old one is back in, and i will order a denso tonight off of autopartswharehouse, for cheap. I upped the idle speed about 90-160 degrees ( dont remember.) but its running solid for a 230k rebuild that sat for months.

right-on...
And on a side note, 80 series Cruiser guys on mud have reported using a "wide band" O2 sensor has had worse effects than running a OEM sensor...
Can't recall if the "Wide band" is a Bosch or not.
Glad you got it...
Good call, myyota
