Solid Front Axle Pictoral Rebuild
#4
I'm in the process of obtaining an '85 4x4 pick-up, has 126,000 miles on it. It's been sitting for at least one year, I counted at least 4 dirt-dobber nests just in the engine compartment but the engine starts fine (with jumper cables).
Anyway, current owner is not the original owner and he doesn't know if the front axle has ever been rebuilt. Should it be done when I get it home? What are the recommendations?

Hmm... a local junk yard has a 1979 toyota axle in it... but it has no third member, brakes or hubs. just has the steering and what not. but the owner of the yard says he drained the fluid out of it and muddy water came out... there anyway of recovering/rebuilding the entire axle back to usable shape?
