Spare tire carrier

I scored a new spare hoist on ebay and I got it all installed only to find that when I crank my spare up I cant get it tight against the carrier because the crank is in the way also the crank is at an extreme angle because the bottom of the tail gate is in the way. How is this supposed to work ????

maybe a photo or two will help. Since yur in the 86-95 section gonna assume it's the 86 runner your talking about? Also what size tire are you trying to put in there.

My engines making noises and is running strangely but I drive it around all the time and I don't know if its a problem or not and sometimes this sensor get unplugged and the gauge starts moving up and down and if I hit a peddle the thing starts to wobble and the other gauge moves down and up, not up and down like the other one but down and up. How do i fix it?
