Exhaust leak question

Hey there, i recently put straight pipes on my truck. The shop cut my muffler off and clamped a Y-pipe in its place. now i have a small exhaust leak at the y-pipe. My question is if i get the shop to weld the pipes will the exhaust leak go away and will it change the sound of the truck or make it louder at all??? Appreciate the help yall

if they weld it it should be stronger then the clamp. have you tried re tightening the clamp?
if they weld over the hole completely it will obviously stop the leak. and with no muffler im not sure about the sound but id say it would only be coming out the tail pipe and not at the y pipe. why are you running no muffler anyway? isn't that illegal where you are?

im running no muffler cause i like the sound and i didnt think about the clamps coming loose. that would explain why the hissing sound is louder now than when i got it installed. lol Thanks man

you paid them for an exhaust that didnt leak, they have to fix it for you
i cut the muffler off on my 22re and it sounded like ass but that and an intake gave me the power to only downshift to 4th uphill on the hwy
now on my 22rte i cut out the cat and have a 2.5" flowmaster and it actually sounds okay and def help the turbo to spool, maybe i wont have to downshift at all on the hwy

well i use to work for the shop and the reason they clamped it is because they knew that my parents were iffy on me getting straight pipes. They usually weld the pipes and do great work and will prolly weld it for free. i just didn't know if it would make a big difference. lol
