1st gen rollbar: bolt sizing request
Hey guys,
I've got a project I'm in the process of gathering supplies for and it would be real convenient if someone already knew the size and thread pitch for the bolts that would otherwise fasten shoulder straps to the factory roll bar. Anyone?
I could go around to different places and try to match something up, but...like I said.....it'd be convenient to know the size already. I know it'll be metric, but the bolt being as large as it is may prove to be a difficult matching up process. If I knew the exact size, I could just call around saving myself some trouble.
Thank you kindly......

You probley not gonna find it at ace hardware, thats a dealership or junkyard item. Its a shoulder bolt made specificaly for that purpose, and I wouldnt trust a hardware store bolt for my safety either.

I'll be looking to an auto parts store or specialty fastener shop for the bolts. I know what grade I'm looking for.....grade 8 or dern near equivalent. I'm not using the bolts for safety harnessing, though. I'm building a safari style soft top with roof rack capability, and the middle portion will be fastened to/supported by the roll bar eliminating the need for the typical middle hoop as with can-backs and such.

I found the bolts at Canadian Tire, its like a hardware/automotive store. they were just called Chassis Bolts, and they had a few sizes and lengths and were about $1.50 a piece, canadian dollars.

The top bolt that holds the front seat belt to the "B" pillar will fit the roll bar and the bolt that secures the front belt to the floor will fit the roll bar. You actually need the front bolt, which has the collar that allows it to move back and forth.
