toyo'n'around's 2001 4Runner Build-Up Thread

Hey guys, Ive had my 4runner for a couple of years and havent even started building yet.. I know, I know, shame on me. But every time I begin to start something comes up or someone tells me that my idea wont work. I have 2001 4runner SR5.. bone stock except for some audio mods and tinting my front windows to match the back. Im wanting a nice easy way to get a couple of inches of height. Im about to put 32" 1150s on it, which means I am going to lift it some.. what should I do to lift? Im wanting a quality and inexpensive route. I have heard gas shocks is a good way and body lifts..?

if youre looking cheap and extrememly easy. toytech has a front 3"spacer with larger rear coils. youll get noticable height. or toytech also has adjustable coil overs and such too. altogether cheap, easy, reliable and good looking.

It's an either-or kind of thing. can't get front lift coils AND a spacer. gotta pick one.

Then..... the bad news. I was on my way to class this past monday morning... The sun was really bright and it caught me in the eyes. I rear-ended a lady. Both of my airbags deployed and the front end is pretty mangled. It is at a body shop right now getting looked over ill post the news whenever I get it

Sorry for your loss, sounds like your gonna need a new 4runner. It doesn't take whole lot of front end damage + airbags to total one out.

Good luck

well i have decided to keep the runner and just try to fix it up. I have no leaks, rattles or any engine damage what so ever. Just body work needs to be done. If anyone knows of or has these spare parts lying around let me know please. I need:
Front Fenders
Grille cover (whatever its called with the toyo logo in it)
Air box
Upper radiator tie bar
hood latch

Im going to have someone fab me a front bumper, so that will be taken care of. But if anyone knows where I can maybe find these parts online for reasonable or if anyone knows of parts lying out there and space that maybe need to be bought, let me know

I have found most of what I need with the exception of airbags and a windshield on roackauto.com
Does anyone know anything about this? Everything is a great deal cheaper on this site, anyone ever used it?

I have been looking for some Xenon HID headlights to replace my busted factory lights. But im not sure that they are worth the price and i may end up just buying factory headlights again. Here's the link of the ones im looking at: http://www.ilovebodykits.com/product...Kit_Combo.html

Jacked to see the rig man! Sounds like it has come a long way. Good luck with the bumper design. My tax return is going to a bumper so I'm jealous you're getting one now haha

Exclamation

Just got finished spraying my custom front bumper with SIMS bedliner today. So I got to wash my truck for the first time since I wrecked it 5 months ago. A buddy of mine does body work so he was able to help me in several different areas. Budbuilt is about 5 minutes from my buddy's shop so I went over with some designs drawn up and he got to work on a tube bumper with a winch mount and pivoting shackle mounts.. it turned out greatm I will certainly be having them do more work for me. I have a rear bumper in mind, but Im going to wait until I get back from basic training before I do that. I also have several other things in mind for my truck to turn it into a great camping rig.

Current Mods:
  • Air raid kit jr
  • Hella 500ff driving lights
  • Maglight mount
  • Custom front bumper
  • Daystar 1.5" front & rear
  • 25% Tint in front
  • Panasonic h/u
  • Sony X-plod door speakers
  • Sony X-plod 1200watt amp
  • 2, 12" Sony X-plod sub woofers (All soon to be taken out in order to have shelves and a sleeping platform

Future.. in somewhat of an order..:
  • LED turn signals on my front bumper
  • Deckplate mod
  • OME Med lift all the way around
  • 33x10.50's (haven't decided what I want.... ideas anyone?)
  • 16" wheels (haven't decided what I want.. ideas anyone?)
  • Custom rear bumper (budbuilt)
  • Flowmaster 40 exhaust (possible to change....ideas anyone??)
  • Winch (smitty xrc8 or warn.. ideas anyone??)
  • Rear locker (not sure what brand I will go with... I thought about an ARB air locker?)
  • Window vents
  • Huskey liner mats
  • Rear storage area and possibly a sleeping platform

Here's some of the current pics I took today:

I installed a set of trailmaster LED turn signals today and I finally got around to doing the deckplate mod. I didnt really notice much from the deckplate mod.. although Im sure it will help out with gas mileage since I am increasing my air flow
