lewisaricl's 1989 Pickup Build-Up Thread

I guess its time to start a build thread. Here are some pics of my 89 ex-cab 4x4. Its a v6 auto.

The body is really great. It has no rust in it. The poor little 3slow was locked up when I bought it. Im going monday to pick up a running 3.0 out of a wrecked truck. Im also swapping it over to a 5-speed. I already have everything I need to do the swap; trans/tcase, pedal assymbly, clutch m/c, slave cylinder, and the lines running from the mc to the slave. Here are some pics of all that.

I went yesterday and got an sr5 guage cluster and sr5 bucket seats out of a 90 sr5 4runner. Here are some more pics(if you havent figured it ou t by now there is gonna alot of pics)

I got my motor. Its out of a 94 2wd 4runner that had 191000 miles on it. the timing cover says the it was replaced at 161000 and the guy said it looklike the heads had been reworked. I gave $700 for it so hopefully it will not have any problems. Im gonna start on it next week. Ill post more pics when I get time. Any advise would be greatly appreciated

You'll love the 5-speed over the auto and it is a straight forward conversion.

I really depends on how much you shop around and if you are gonna do the swap yourself. Everywhere I looked wanted $500 just for the trans and transfercase, but I waited and shoped around and got mine for $350. That was for everything to do the swap with. Figure in another $130 for the clutch, presure plate, and throwout bearing. And Im doing the swap myself(my time is cheaper than any shop)
