amazing deal!!! Toyo M/T's

okay guys..i'm kinda excited.

i just found a set of 285/75R16 BRAND SPANKIN' NEW Toyo M/T's!!!!!
wait for it

wait for it

$650...still have the stickers on em.

bad thing is, i will have to buy some 16" rims IF i get these tires..

should I? i mean, the 3.0 isn't even in the 4runner yet...but you don't come across great deals like this very often...as these tires are great in the mud and trail, and are amazing on treadwear, and will satisfy my 40K-50K mileage bug lol

opinions?

well go for it than...I have Toyo's on my Camry and my 81 Trekker...won't buy another set. Neither set of tires is over 3 years old, both sets have check marks in the tire carcass. My 35's arwearing fast....yes I am taking into account my rear locker, tires are rotated regularly. Camry tires wearing just as fast. My wife drives that thing like is she a grandma... Just basing this opinion on my experience with Toyo's.
Les Schwab Tires sells them like crazy in the PNW too,

Not a fan of the Toyo's. They look nice, ride decent but don't tend to clean real well unless you're bouncing it off the rev limiter, and they do wear pretty quick. If you take good care of 'em, have 'em rotated every 2500-3000 miles, etc you might get 30k out of them. Most guys I know with them only get about 20k before they are worn to the point that they start to get squirrley on the road, and don't do crap off road. (about 4 to 6 32nds of tread left).
Really that doesn't seem like that great of a deal to me personally. I bought my 33" swampers with the tits still on them (they might have had a couple hundred miles at the very most) for $425. I loved those tires, and they wore pretty good. I traded them for my procomps at about 5k miles, they had worn off about 1/32 of tread, still looked brand new. The only reason I got rid of them is the noise was kinda getting old, and the 10.50" wide tires just didn't do well with my heavy ass 4runner in the soft sugar sand. A 12.50 or wider is much better I've come to find.

Hmmmm, Im not really understanding these experiences.I had a set of 35x12.5x15 that I got brand new on my birth day for my 95 ext cab silverado.I put I rarely rotated them had them balance twice and put 35k on them by the time i sold the truck. They still had at least another 7-10k on them before you would even worry about the tread being low.

I always thought that a lighter truck will get more miles out of a tire?

still rockin the Toyo's.

around 10,000 miles or so and the fronts still look brand new. the rears are at about 75% though, my fault though lol me+pissed off mood=burnouts and drifting on dirt roads...which in turn equals bad tire wear.

gonna rotate them when i get the chance, then start being easy on them again.

tires are really quiet still!!! not as quiet as an all terrain, but still quiet!

i say they aren't great in the mud, but havent left me stranded yet...but like i've said before, the only other tires i can compare them to (on my past vehicles) is super swampers.

still heavy as hell.....ran them at 75psi for half the summer, then let em down to 50psi, now i'm at 40psi i believe. not too bad, feel pretty great at 15psi lol, nice and soft ride!
