Four vehicles: a 2000-something Jeep Wrangler with 2" lift and 32" mud tires; a 2010 F150 FX4 4-door on 35" mud tires and the only locker in the group; '96 4runner with (I think) 3" lift and 34" all terrains tires; then me- '95 4runner with 31" mud tires. No winches in the group. Usually there are more Jeeps, but they all changed plans at the last minute. Got on the trail around 2pm. Got back on the road a little after midnight. The F-150 was stuck for over 4 hours. Enjoy

First place we stopped was on top of one of the ridges to get a good view and make our plans, as we were following a 4-wheeler (quad) trail-

Then we starting going down into a valley to get to another ridge. F-150 being stuck, T-minus 60 minutes. It was slow going. Lots and lots of small-medium rock on the trail. Very bumpy. The trail down led us into brush and trees. All of our rigs got some new pin-striping. Okay, LOTS of pin-striping. I was tailing.





I didnt take any pictures in between as I was too busy avoiding trees.

Four hours later, we got him out. Lots of digging, Hi-Lifting, tree cutting, pulling, and digging. The Hi-Lift jacks were invaluable. Only had two and now I know what I'm buying next! As I was positioning myself in the brush to get more behind the F-150, My skid plate got torn off. So later, we used it as a platform for on of the Hi-Lifts so it wouldnt sink in the mud. He was buried up to his frame, stuck ON his frame and front cross-member. I couldnt get enough traction in the brush to pull him out so I was an anchor for Hi-Lift winching. We moved him about a foot this way, then started jacking him up to get branches and trees underneath his tires. Thankfully, everyone was a good sport through the whole ordeal.
Of course, I got stuck right behind him trying to skirt where he just was. Even with like 15 2-4" round trees in the ruts, I still got sucked over and got stuck. But the F-150 was able to pull me out, no sweat.

We got on top of yet another ridge to scope the scene.



We finally found the way back down to the road. Through some more trees, then followed a dead creek. The last 500 feet was just a huge mess. I got stuck again- High centered both between the f/r wheels, the front cross-member aaand my front tow hooks decided they wanted to go digging. And it was MUCK.



The F-150 had to come back across the 50- foot mud pit to get me. Got my rear bumper bent up in the process. Made it across the mud pit no problem. Then we were on the road. Home time!!

That is some awesome land. Good to see some adventure like that.

 

When we got on the trail it was about 70*F. Up in the hills it was probably about 60 and around 50 with the wind. By the end it was overcast and wanting to rain (which it did today) and about 55-65*F

 

Yep, your alittle warmer. Is all the mud from rain or thaw?

Alaska is the shizzit!! I have been there a few times but didn't get to do any wheelin, although I'd loooove to. Looks fun, love the pics.

Its not technically a sunset as the sun doesnt go under the horizon.... In a few months it will though. Then in December it will barely be ABOVE the horizon

 

so it always day light rite now
