94' 22re rough idle, beltching radiator and poor timing...

So like many before me I have the engine back in the truck and did the 2K 20 min run up for the cam and am now looking to smooth things out.

I started w/ burping the radiator... seemed more like a volcanic eruption than "burps" I kept adding distilled water and it would settle then the truck would shudder and drop RPM and the water would old faithful on me.
Got a few pockets of steam early on but now just eruptions.

I had the distributor gear in the wrong slot but have that fixed now.
The throttle seems to keep itself at about 1/4 open...
I didn't notice a motor to make this happen, is this a vacuum function?
Cause it makes it really hard to set the idol and timing when I'm not sure where in the swing of things the throttle is.

Setting timing, I keep playing w/ the air bypass screw on the throttle body to get the tack to go to 750rpm/ 500 w/ the jumper that doesn't seem to do a full 50 rpm drop, yet by setting timing the RPMs change.

I can get the timing from 0 to whatever the top notch is and the whole thing seems to shudder form time to time.... not missing an any particular cylinder as it didn't die when pulling plugs while lit.
Even when reving high it seems to miss from time to time.

No codes.

I'll keep reading the threads and keep at it.

I may try changing out the throttle body as I never did get a factory spec on the IACV and just winged it when putting it back together...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...needed-209901/

But by far the largest "wierdness" is the throttle keeping itself at 1/4-1/3 open and never getting down to the dash pot unless the truck is off.
Well that and I think my throttle cables are too long

Anyone,

Anyone,

Last night was another failure.....

I do have the other throttle body cleaned and sometime when I get a second I'll try it out to see if things smooth our...

I suspect I'll be attempting to "burp" again.

ANY ideas will be accepted:lol

Easiest fix ever....

Those red shop rags that one may or may not place in their intake to prevent dust and rodent from entering...

The rag should be removed prior to installing air intake and starting engine:slap head

what a dumb ass
