Ok, last night I installed my new EGR Superguard-3d Carbon Fiber bug deflector. On my way into work this morning, driving about 40-50mph, the deflector starts making a whistling noise. Almost like the noise when a side window is cracked open. Do they all do this? It's gonna drive me crazy if it gets even louder on the highway.

It's not textured. It's just a pattern in the plastic (clear plastic with a black pattern). As far as I can tell.

I would recheck the (4) screw fasteners and make sure that your shield is symmetrically installed across the front as you have some room to play with due to the slots for mounting. I would also check and make sure that somehow your guard is not bent out of symmetry from shipping and thus causing an irregular airflow over it.If these don't fix it I would suggest turning up the radio real loud.

Hard to install???

Mine had (4) screws that went through (4) little rubber washers and the EGR guard into (4) little inserts that you popped into (4) little places under the front of the hood. Took me all of about 2 minutes to install the whole kit and kaboodle.Does yours look like this except it is carbon fiber?

Your truck rocks btw.

If you can brush your teeth without injuring yourself you can put on the EGR easily. My rig is but beginning it's rockness, but thanks!

Wish I could help more but my bugflector doesn't make a sound but my sunrooflector
does whistle. I wonder if the EGR is redirecting the wind to some extent and that is causing your problem.
Have you tried reinstalling it just to see if it was a fluke? Also, I had to adjust my hood to get it to close properly.
Good Luck!!

does your bug guards have drainage holes at the bottom? My OEM does and they make loud whistling sounds when driving. So I taped up all the long holes and the whistling stopped.
Maybe you want to look into that.

I have the EGR Carbon Fiber "like" guard and it made a lot of wind noise after I installed it. - I say carbon Fiber "like" because it is just a printed pattern on the back side of the guard.
I solved mine by adjusting the hood stops in the front. Just screw them out a bit more. This raises the front of the hood a bit and changes the airflow.
This was the fix for my 93 Runner's problem with the back hood rattling/flapping at high speed.

hey, thanks for the replys. It doesn't have any drainage holes but it does have a section on each side, above the lights, where it does not wrap under the hood. My guess is that is where the noise is coming from.
I will try to adjust the hood stops/latch this weekend and see if that helps.
