Weird Exhuast noise (maybe quiet backfire)

Hey guys, so today I was checking tire pressure and I noticed that there is a weird noise in my exhaust kind of like a really quiet backfire?! I uploaded a youtube video I took of the exhaust for the sound.. It was right next to the exhaust so it could be heard, but the "whining" in the background is I'm guessing a bad PS pump!? I know it had a timing belt at 130,00 and we are only at 173,000 its a 1990 4runner with the 3.sloww

Thanks,
Julian

I don't hear anything to be too concerned about. I certainly don't hear any backfiring. Maybe you have a loose exhaust mount or something?

It's possible that a piece of your cat is starting to come apart, but that will usually develop into a distinct rattle, and you will know it's coming from the cat.

You don't hear anything when driving do you? I think you're ok, as long as it runs and sounds good when driving.

I doubt its the cat because I just had that replace in July of 2009... But possible. and I just never heard the sound until yesterday.. But she is still running good. just wondering if it was something going wrong.. But thanks for letting me know its not!

If your talking about that kind of a hollow sound, check your exhaust from the muffler back for any cracks or rust spots that could cause an air leak in the exhaust system.
