Hello, I recently purchaced a 1990 4runner. I'm having a problem with the headlights and cluster lights. When I turn the headlight swith to the first notch, I have headlights but no tail lights or cluster lights. When I turn the headlight switch to the second notch (full on) I have no headlights, tail lights or cluster lights. I have switched out the headlight relay under the hood and it didn't help. I hooked up another switch assembly from an autowrecker yard and had the exact same results. I have checked the fuses on the driver's side kick panel and under the hood and they are all fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be or what else I can check? Thanks in advance!

 

hmmm... bad ground? check your grounds.

 

I wouldn't even know where to start in regards to checking the grounds. Do you know of a schematic showing the electrical for the headlights? Thanks for your reply!

 

service manual, or google it,or try the search on this site...need more info on your rig to help...

 

I don't have the service manual. I'll try to find something online. What kind of info do you need on the rig? It is a 1990 SR5 V6 auto with 230k kms (~140k miles)...can't really think of anything else relavent?
