Question 86 yoda pickup xcab build

ive got an 86 yoda pickup doing a v6 chevy motor out of a 05 astro van. i will be running 40 in tires on it so i got a matching set of chevy axels dana 44 front a 14 bolt rear with 8 in lift spring in the front not sure about the rear yet with teraflex shackels and king 18 in travel shocks all the way around. im wanting to convert the rear to disc needing to know what kind of brake booster and stuff like that i will need. i got the kit from advanced adapters to make the yoda manual trans and chain drive trans case work. are they going to hold up? if not what will bolt up to the motor and work. can i swap the spindels around to make it a high pinion and what kind of tie rods and drag links am i goin to need

I'd say you get a D60 in place of that D44. The D60 is a bit beefier, and since you're going to be running 40" tires you'll want the added peace of mind.

my rig only weighed 2400 with the stock motor and axels im only adding maby 800 lbs to it its all fiberglass except for the cab thats the only thing oem becides the frame. it was origonally a prerunner but im trying to get into mud and trails more than dunes. aint a d60 a little over kill i thought 3/4 ton axels was goin to be enough overkill

The D60 has a bigger R&P, thicker axleshafts, bigger U-joints, and stronger knuckles.
You want to run 40" tires on the weaker axle, you're going to be spending alot of money beefing up an inferior axle. When you could spend alot less on the stronger one.

what he said. if you wana run over a 37 and wheel hard, IMO full widths are the way to go. plus itd help out with the bigger engine, and be more stable on the trail

well he wanted full widths already.. the 14 bolt and d44.. however, the d44 is pretty weaksauce.

well.. if you don't mash the skinny pedal you should be fine.
the astrovan engine might have maybe 150hp over the stock engine.. so you should be safe with that.
i've seen guys back the toyota trans against a chevy 350.
now that i re-read your initial post, you already have the D44 and 14?

ya i got the matched 3/4 ton axels last week from a guy that rebuilt them and delivered to the shop. i am doin a disc brake conversion on the rear and i guess all i have to do is get some special brackets from a local guy and use front callipers and rotors to make it work. but im wonderin if the stock brake booster is strong enough or do i need to get a better universal set up. so people are puttin a 350 with the stock yoda trans and t case with no problems huh? i got the conversion kit from advanced adapters that came with the bell housing clutch n flywheel. can you think of anything else i need?

Okay keep the axle then.
Might as well, right? It's already rebuilt.
As for the brakes?
Get a bigger bore on the brake cylinder. search thru the forums, theres all kinds of crap on it.
Yeah i know of one guy on here with a 350 in his 1st gen. I cant remember if hes running the stock trans though.
The transmission should hold up to that astrovan engine, though. It's only a V6. Just lay off the skinny pedal, no burn outs okay?
