91 4Runner sunroof opens but wont close

I made a post about this previously but excuse me as I have found more information.

My Sunroof on my 91 4runner has always had trouble closing, I pulled the switch apart to see if it was that stupid safety button stopping it. I push the little plastic piece that is connected to the spring out of the way before pushing the close button but it won't shut. It will open however leading me to believe its not a problem with the motor. Any ideas?

I would just manually close it with the screw driver but that doesn't lift the glass piece up the last inch or so to fully seal the inside and it may rain in the next few days so I would really like to get this taken care of today. Thanks.

Do the contact points ever go bad or need to be cleaned? When I took it apart there were some screws missing leading me to believe its been disassembled before and fiddled with.

The contacts can be cleaned I think.

Well I figured out the issue. When I push the close switch and hold the back of the switch assembly it closes. There must be some play in the assembly causing the contacts not to touch. I wonder if replacing the screws will fix it or if I need something else to eliminate the play.

if the safety switch is not used and some one tried to force the close button than that will mess it up you'll need a new switch
