3rd Gen 4runner digital altimeter, inclinometer

Hi, I am just wondering if anyone seen or add the digital altimeter, inclinometer and compass that the JDM Hilux Surf equipped? It actually locates at the front of the headliner where the rear view mirror mounted. Any idea?

What the? Nobody wrote to this, and the date is back in 03?! I'm really curious and wanting one now, and this is all I could find on it. Any ideas, if anybody ends up reading this at all. In desparation, please let me know if anybody has any information. Thanks!

No one responded to it because the few of us that have one of these units did not install it until a few years later.

Oh and the reason why you did not find any relevant threads on this subject was because you were not searching the correct terms. The unit in question is called a "Field Monitor":

I installed one in my '02 4Runner: Write Up 1

Midiwall installed one in his '96 4Runner: Write Up 2

Soljah's installed one in his '99 4Runner: Write Up 3

I know of a few other members currently working on installing one of these units, but do not know their status. There maybe more threads on this than what I have listed above.

If you didn't already know, the FM was never a US option. However, it was offered on many Hilux Surfs else where around the globe.

I have started one as I just got my unit in from a seller in New Zealand. I am still trying to figure out a few things and will be starting a thread as well. I have no idea how to host pictures but I am taking them of my install. I have the some of the wiring information but still trying to figure some of this out. I need a factory shop manual to help me figure out how to disassemble the interior but one thing at a time.

If you want to host your photos, try using Photobucket.com. Very easy to upload and edit pictures. They also provide you with an "IMG Code" link below each picture which makes copying and pasting them on forums real easy.

Good luck with your install.

I have my non sunroof unit sitting in my room waiting to be installed in my Tacoma. Since the headliner is different, I am going to be doing some cutting to get it to work.
