85 ext cab 22re lean misfire??????
#1
Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, I have injector/wiring, issues. When the truck is cold, it runs fine. As soon as it warms up it has a bad lean missfire in number three hole. I have done everything that people have suggested ie; solderd the harness, replaced fuel filter,plugs, wires, cap, rotor,air filter,pvc,motor vac'd,ohm'd everything,155 comp in all holes, 20inches vac, valves are fine, replaced all vac hoses,good fuel pressure,computer's fine,checked all grounds(took apart and cleaned)all connections...WHAT THE HELL!

I'm learning, myself, but I've got a friend that had a lean misfire in a particular cylinder, over and over, and it was a bad injector. For some reason, it was crapping out when the loop changed over.
I'm having HUGE issues with mine, right after closed loop, but getting no codes except when idling up a lil(tps or switch(??) code).
Sure hope you get it figured out soon, Furburgler(lol).

Any luck Furburgler? I've replaced my Bosch o2 Replacement with a OEM from the STEALER, ...I mean dealer, and for the most part, it's better. However, it still has a freakish bogging and unwillingness to cooperate during only the first 2-3 minutes of Open Loop. Once it's fully warm(5 min.-120 degrees or so?), VOILA! Still hear a TINY 'pup'(miss) from the exhaust every few seconds or so, but it's doesn't seem really troubling(I'll keep an eye on that, and in the case that I find the initial open loop rough-low idle/bad acceleration problem, that miss might just clear up.)
If this was just an "I'M OLD AND TIRED, BUT WHEN I WARM UP, ....S'ALL GOOD" THING, I'd just accept that. BUT, DANGIT, I find it too hard to believe that it's not some sensor. Even when I kill the engine for around 30 minutes(maybe less), it seems to run rough for a minute, then clears up and runs nearly perfect.
So far;
New Coolant Temp Switch(Napa part, .....Could it be a piece of crapola? I'll check)
New Denso OEM o2 Sensor
New Denso Plugs
New Wires, Cap & Rotor
New Vacuum lines(most of it, ...still working on that when I have time)
New radiator, Water Pump and Thermostat
2x Seafoam/intake treatment(1x Break Booster Vac. and 1x PCV Vac. line)
Checked readings on;
AFM, CSI Time Switch(Read 51ohms where FSM said "60-90" and 122ohms for "ground" where it called for "65-90"....TIME TO TOSS IT?), CSInj. read fine(But I need to listen to it with a stethoscope.....how long does it run on start up?....Could be leaking a bit, too,....but wouldn't it continue to leak throughout running cycle?), TPS readings were within the margins(going to retest it....but wouldn't it continue to run like crap throughout continued driving?)
Haven't checked;
IACV(GOOD LORD I'm not looking forward to that after hearing how much trouble people have had trying to get it off)
Coil or ignitor( Would that, also, cause a continuous problem?)
Open Circuit Relay
EFI Relay
ECU relay
I'll let you know what I find, Furburgler, ....seems to be a REALLY common problem for older 22re's, does it not? Unfortunately, none of the 'I FIGURED IT OUT' threads have been the cause of my problem.
