Tranny Swap 98 T100

i have a question for your expertise!
my tranny is going out in my truck ( i believe it is a R150/f... 5spd 4wd 98 t100 3.4l) and im wanting to put an auto in it, either an A340F and keep 4x4 or an A340E and make it a 4x2 prerunner. what are some things i need to look out for either swaps? will i need a new computer to run the auto? i know the mounts are probably gonna be different but i can handle that. thanks in advance!

You would need the computer and wiring harness from an automatic truck to run it. You would also need to ge teh A340F tranny and transfer case. You would also need the flywheel from the motor of the automatic doner truck. You may need to change driveshafts too. Your best bet is to find a complete truck in the junkyard to get all the stuff from.

I wouldn't change to a 2wd. you would kill the value of your truck by doing that.

alright thanks, i plan on keeping the truck till it dies so the value is debatable i guess... but i will deff look for an a340f tranny to keep it 4x4. will the tranny fit the stock mounts? and could i frankenstein my harness with the new computer?

Exclamation

bump...

found a wrecked 96 4runner at a local pull a part for my donor truck. it has an a340f still connected to the motor so i will be able to take the flexplate/flywheel off. today i got the ecu part # 89661-3D320. Do i need to rob the harness that connects to the tranny? and is that section of harness all i'll need? im going back thursday 4-15-2010 to get the tranny... any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!!!

edit
it appears to be a 97 4runner from everything im finding off the ecu i pulled, the tag on the driver door says nov/1996, guess it just an early early 97?
