I am looking into a 85 x cab but I am married and have a 2 year old girl. So is there a enough room for a car seat in the tiny back cab area?

I was thinking i might have to make something to hook the car seat too right behind the 2 bucket seats and my girls legs would face the the shifter.

Is there a seat at all in the back for a 3rd person. I know it would be a tight fit but is there any kind of seat in the back?

Do these trucks have air bags for driver and passenger?

I know if some one has made it work its someone on this site.

I want to stick with a truck instead of a 4 runner. A truck works better for hunting.

the 84-88 extra cab trucks are even smaller then the 89-95 trucks... I could fit in the back of my 89, but it was a tight fit. the bench isn't very deep either, not sure if there is enough support for a childs seat? They tend to be designed for a full seat. You could probably take a baby seat with you, and look at a xtra cab for sale locally, and test fit it your self.

for a family vehicle, the 4runner will work out better, especially as your daughter grows.

 

There are no seats or seat belts in back, only a parcel shelf.

No driver or passenger airbags.

go with an 85 4runner. its pretty much just a modified pickup. rear seat good for more people and you can take back seat out, take the topper off and use it like a pickup. or get a third gen x cab but the ifs is horrible.

 

I put bucket seats in my 85 so if I have to I can put my daughters booster seat in the back between the seats. Yes I installed a seatbelt bolted to the floor like the front ones. I thought about her safety for when she wants to go ride with daddy in what she calls " The Monster Eater".
