need some help with auto trans swap
#1
my friend has a 92 4 runner v6 automatic 4x4. he recently swapped a 94 4 runner v6 automatic trans 4x4 into his 92. now he is having issues. the neutral safety switch is different. the 94 trans has 9 wires while the 92 only had 7.
does anyone know if the automatic trans from a 94 is the same as a 92?

Why not just swap the Neutral safety switch?
Btw, I have swapped them before and the only difference I could find was a sensor inside the transfer case on the 94 setup. If you swap the tcase valve body, and the safety switch, you will be good to go.

toyo: i have a 94 auto that i burn the trans on. swapped it with a auto from a 91, come to find out they are different. a trans tech told me if the neutral safety switch is diff you cant just switch them. the wiring is different and the ecu and harness would also have to be switched. so it forced me to do the manual swap (will be done when i get a day free to do it) hope that helps your question.
I believe from the research i did i found out the A340H 89-93 is different from A340H 94-95. hope this helps.
