New Tires for my '08 4Runner (BFG vs Michelin vs Bridgestone?)
I need new tires for my 4Runner. I'm trying to stay within $130-$190 per tire. I got some recommendations at Costco today. They gave me these options:
-BFG Long Trail T/A (about $135/ea)
-Michelin LTX M/S2 and LTX A/T2 (one of those has a 70k warranty) (about $190/ea)
-Bridgestone Duehler A/T Revo 2 (about $190 ea)
95% of the time I need a good highway tire. But about 5% of the time I need something that can handle some mud, loose rock on small hills (up and down) and possibly wet rocks in riverbeds in Texas. No serious 4-wheeling, but something that's prepared if the need arises.
I'd also prefer a quieter tire, and one with reasonable fuel efficiency.
Any thoughts? Thank you in advance. I'm new here, but I did search the forums before posting and got some information.

I'd highly recommend the Kumho Road Venture AT. Rides great, wears very well, and cheap. Plus they do have an aggressive enough tread pattern that if you need them to dig, they will. I'd take those over anything you've listed in a heartbeat.
I'm not saying this because I have a biased opinion because I think it's the greatest tire in the world or anything (I'm running procomp tires at the moment) but because I've owned a LOT of different tires, and I've dealt with/worked on/seen long term wear of a lot more different tires.
The michelins are nice tires, however a whole lot more expensive than I think they're worth. I'm not a huge fan of michelins anyways, but they will ride good and last a long time. They're just a lot of money, more than they're worth imo. The bfg's suck. And I really don't like bridgestones. They're a pretty soft compound and tend to chop if you don't rotate them VERY frequently.
just my .02

thanks for your comments. I'll take a look at them. I know very little so I'm open to everything and anything. I want to feel informed about my tire purchase for once, rather than just going in and buying whatever they tell me to buy. So I'm learning as I go on this one but I appreciate the feedback and will hope to get some more maybe. I'll try to check back in and let you know what I go with.
Thanks again

Look at those 3 tires on tire rack.com
You will see the revo 2 are the highest rated tire, and are also the lightest load range E tire they have, which would help with fuel efficiency.

just remember these are based off of peoples surveys. but I figure its just another tool to help you decide.
If I were buying all-terrains today, I would be deciding between the LTX AT/2's and the Revo 2's.
I would say my winner of the ones listed would be the Revo 2's.
