I am in the middle of a 3.0 rebuild and I have no experience with headers. I have heard a lot of talk about downey. I found a set that a guy wants to sell with the crossover pipe sawed off. He says I can bolt them back together. I really dont think I know what he means or how to go about it. I am a by the book guy and there is nothing in the FSM about how to mod for headers. But I know that the stock system sucks and that the headers will disperse heat and help save my Head Gaskets from another blow. What all will I have to mod to put these on? Im in Tennessee so I dont have to worry about emissions tests. By the way the EGR on my rig is a goner too. I threw it in the trash then made plates to block off the ports. Can I just bolt these on then drive it to a muffler shop and have them do the rest?
