damaged tire...still hold air?

another stupid tire question. i just picked up a set of bfg muds 35x12.50 for my 95 yota for 75 bucks. there in great shape. anyways after i got home and was unloadin them, i noticed one has some damage. on the part that the lip of teh rim touches, that you can see when the wheels are on, has a small chunk took out of it. think it will still hold air? its probably a stupid question. but i didnt kno the answer to it ill post a pic tommorrow. thanks yotatech!
