Anyone interested in reverse indiglos? Where just the numbers would light up blue, not the whole gauge?

Oops, :pat: forgot about the year.

I have a 2001. Ever see VW gauges? Bright blue with a black background? Very cool.

I guess I'm just picky, but I don't really care for Blue gauges and then the rest of my lights glowing green. To me it just doesn't look right, it's out of uniform.

Has anyone tried to turn their lights from green to blue to match the rest of their console (minus the radio of course)? Can it even be done?

Dash change

I had done such a color change on a Celica I used to have. The bulbs that light the dash have little colored sleeves over them that can be switched out. It's been so long - can't remember where I got mine. I've been searching the web and haven't come up with anything either. With these sleeves, you can even change the color of your lighted switches. Some places are selling colored bulbs, but I don't know if they have all of the sizes needed to do the whole job. Here's one I came across:

Colored Glass Bulbs

I'll post something when I find more...Getting sleepy

Yeah if anyone can find out the sizes for these bulbs let me know, b/c I have a Sony Explode System that glows blue in mine and I would like to get the reverse indiglo gauges to match it, but then I would have a whole bunch of green lights in the middle, makng it look all out of wack. So any suggestions on how to get colored bubls for the other dash parts would be great.

I just removed all of my green bulb covers and run the lights white. Looks clean.

hehe...I tried 'em all folks. The only way you're gonna get true, even color is probably an LED to replace the bulb. I had 'naked' bulbs for a little while, it's a dirty/yellowish color, easy on the eyes, different, but I like color. One day we'll have our reverse Indi gauges...

Bulb covers no good?

I want to go for a low key change to my dash. Namely I want to change everything that lights up to Amber. Back in the day, I used to get into the faces of aftermarket radios and change the color with some cool results. The radio I'm putting in has a switchable display and I've always been partial to amber/red dash lighting. I've been striking out searching the web to find a vendor for these bulb covers (also know as colored silicone boots). Does anyone know where I can find these? I've looked at autoparts stores and tuner shops already.

I know the boot you are talking about. Try a truck shop [18 wheelers} i saw them there be for. Lot of cool of toys for car and trucks.

We like to call those boots condoms here. I found a multi-colored pack at a speed shop here. Made in Japan. It was only in the 194 (corner wedge bulb) size. Nothing in my dash that size. All were smaller. I cut it and glued it, but the blue was weak. Since amber is close(er) to the naked bulb color, you probably could use a Japan bulb paint and get good results.

Hey Beo--
Here's a link to someone who did just that on a Camry, however.
It looks like real painstaking work.
Dash from Green to Blue

Looks REAL nice, though....

(Also a few pics there of using Peel & Seal CHEAP sound deadening for anyone planning an install soon )

Hey all--if you are reading this you must have some interest in changing your dash , why don't you go to speedhut.com? Man, it's been on 7 orders for so long now. Just put an order in, they won't charge you and when 20 orders are in, they will ask you if you still want to order.. SHEESH.
