265/75/16 Bridgestone Revo 2 Opinions

I need some help from you guys... My brother has a 96 4Runner 3.4 4WD Auto. So today he was going to buy some 265/70/16 Revo 2's for his truck but the salesman said they are on factory back order. So the guy suggested 265/75/16 Revo 2's. My Bro bought them. He came over to my house complaing that he can feel all the bumps in the road now. He also said that he thinks these tires are for for a full size truck... ford, chevy, dodge because they say LT... I drove the truck and they seem fine to me. My 4Runner rides more rough imo. He is worried about his MPG also. Is anyone else running these 265/75/16 Revo 2's??? What do you guys think. He said he wants a more smoother ride on road, but still be ablle to perform well offroad.
Is going with the 75 opposed to the 70 going to make difference in ride quality? Thanks. He wants to take them back tomorrow, but I told him to keep them. They look good on his 4Runner. Pics tomorrow when sunny.

whats the load rating? how many plys? the 75 is slightly taller. It may be just a stiffer sidewall tire compared to the 70.

They are "E" Rated. I am not sure about how many plys. I did notice on bridgestonetires.com that they have P265/75R16 and LT265/75/16 the P265 is not as heavy duty.

iirc, the 'p' indicates passenger tire, good for smoother ride. lt is for light truck, a more robust tire for 'adventure'. not much help on the issue at hand, i have a/t's for dd use and m/t's for 'other' uses!.

i'm pretty sure the E load rating has something to do with it too. a C or D would be a better choice

I just bought 265/75/16 Revo 2s in January with load range E. I have an SS 1.2 (lift) and they ride just like my previous tires did, which were the first gen Revos. I believe those were also E load.

To clarify further - Bridgestone makes the REVO2s in 123R, which is E range, and 114Ts, which don't specify load range. They are cheaper and the sidewall isn't as stiff as the Es. Would your bro be happier with the Ts? If he is complaining, then probably, yes.

Going from 265/70/16 to /265/75/16 lost me about 1-1.4 MPG. But this is winter gas, so who knows what it'll be in the summer.

I would stick with the REVO2s, all in all, though! They excel at everything but lots of mud.

I would have to agree with you. I guess he didn't realize what a e rated tire would be like. But the funny thing is I drove his 4runner all yesterday and it is a much much smoother ride compared to my 94. So I don't know. Anyways I guess he is going with some passenger Michelin tire. Too bad those Revos are pretty nice.
